May 21 – Oh, What A Savior!

May 21, 2012

What the Bible Says:

A.  God is just.

  1. Deut 32:4  He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

B.  We are all sinners

  1. Eccl 7:20  For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
  2. Rom 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

C.  There will be a final judgment of sin.

  1. When all those accounts are brought to bear and balanced out.
  2. Man will be judged on the basis of what he has done.  Rom 14:11-12  For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.  So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

An easy example is that of a court of law in this country.  If a crime is committed against me, I would want justice!  Of course, the courts of man may not always be perfect in their judgment, but you can believe that God’s court will be exactly what is according to righteousness and justice.

D.  Sin must be paid for:

  1. Ezek 18:20  The soul that sinneth, it shall die.
  2. Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death…

God’s punishment for sin is death (eternal damnation).  Either the sinner himself will pay for his sins or the sin-debt must be paid by a perfect substitute (revealed in Jesus Christ).

Oh, what a Savior!
